As a committee member of my club, I was selected to attend a leadership training programme in Secondary school. This course focuses on developing student leaders who are able to assist teachers in planning, organising, and implementing outdoor and adventure learning activities.
Through this course
-
I learned and understood the roles and responsibilities involved in activity leadership.
-
I received opportunities to engage in selected challenge course elements which encourages willingness to challenge myself to go beyond my comfort zone in response to challenges.
-
I was required to conduct and facilitate team-building activities for the class
Through this course, I learned how to plan, facilitate programmes, and execute leadership. Additionally, this course allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and be willing to challenge myself. Overall, this has allowed me to be more confident in taking up a leadership position and enabled me to never be afraid of taking up a challenge. These key skill sets and experience will allow me to become a confident and efficient events manager.

Picture of me hosting the event
In secondary school, I was given the opportunity to host Honours Day an important yearly school celebration event. It was held with the whole school and the teaching faculty. I hosted this event among two other emcees. This experience has helped me develop confidence as well as public speaking skills. Being more confident in myself and my skills allows me to be able to better cope with pressure in the workplace.
