I was selected as the Logistics Head of ‘Verve’, a student-led arts festival that Arts Business Management (ABM) organised. The 2022 festival edition was in collaboration with the Singapore Arts Museum (SAM) under the Singapore Biennale 2022. 'Verve' is an annual arts festival organised by the year 2 students of Arts Business Management. Under the Verve Arts Festival, there are two main activities. The 'Oh' Verve Drive and the Verve arts festival itself. 'Oh' Verve drive is an annual fundraising initiative organised both physically at Ngee Ann Polytechnic and digitally through a website. It is done solely by the students of Arts Business Management and it aims to raise funds for Verve, the diploma’s annual arts festival, through sales of products and services, created and provided by the students themselves.
Equipment handling
Setting up of equipment
Organisation of total sales order sheet (both physical and online)
During the festival and fundraising initiative, I was required to:
-
Organise total sale orders both physical and online (Excel sheet)
-
Collate sale products, organise and handle the mailing process
-
Work in a committee team
-
Plan programmes
-
Hold meetings with partnering artists and clients
-
Prepare the necessary documentation and logistics for the event.
-
Plan the transportation of equipment to the venue
-
Equipment handling, setting up required types of equipment
-
Oversee the equipment and materials.
Through this festival, I was able to learn how to communicate with clients and come up with solutions to reach an agreement. Additionally, this experience taught me how to work in a team, allowing me to co-operatively work with the committee. This experience has taught me how to plan and execute events, communicate with clients as well as work in a team. These skill sets will allow me to confidently execute and manage events in the future.

Facilitation of club activities
I have been appointed a leadership role in my co-curricular club, Outdoor Adventure Club.
I was involved in planning and facilitating of:
-
Club training and activities
-
Club camps
-
School camps
-
School events such as freshman orientation
My active involvement in co-curricular activities honed my leadership and communication skills, due to the constant need to communicate with school leaders, and teachers when planning an event. As a committee member of the Outdoor Adventure Club at Christ Church Secondary, I learned how to plan, execute, and facilitate significant events. These experiences will enable me to be confident in managing a project as I am capable of planning and facilitating various types of events.
